An international exhibition and trade week featuring products from 16 countries has been held in Garzê County in Sichuan Province, China, under the theme “Silk Road Garzê.”

The event brought together distinctive products, handicrafts, antiques, cultural goods and precious jewellery from different countries, while combining international trade with local cultural promotion.

Three major exhibitions were held simultaneously in the Gesar cultural area: a showcase of products from 16 countries, an antiques and collectibles trade exhibition, and a jewellery exhibition featuring pearls and other precious items.

The exhibitions attracted large numbers of local residents and tourists.

Among the products on display were handmade thangka paintings from Nepal, incense from India, traditional handicrafts and copperware from Garzê, as well as ethnic jewellery, cultural and creative products, and speciality goods from participating countries.

According to the organizers, more than 300 merchants and exhibitors representing 16 countries participated in the event. They were involved in sectors including antiques, food products, pearls, jewellery and cultural and creative industries.

Sales and purchase orders generated through the exhibitions exceeded 500,000 yuan in a single day.

The event also places strong emphasis on promoting local culture alongside international trade. Traditional performances associated with local intangible cultural heritage are scheduled as part of the wider programme.

According to the event schedule, equestrian activities are to be held on August 7, while the Sichuan-Garzê leg of the 2026 China National Fitness Trail Running Competition and a nationwide city-linked running event are scheduled for August 9.

Organizers said the broader programme aims to combine trade exhibitions, ethnic culture, tourism and sports in order to strengthen Garzê’s local economy, cultural identity and tourism profile.
