Bhishma Raj Angdembe, leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party, held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming.
The meeting, held at the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party office in Singha Durbar, focused on Angdembe’s visit to China beginning Friday, Nepal–China relations, and various aspects of bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also discussed the 11th Asia Regional Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), scheduled to be held in Guangzhou, China, on August 15 and 16. Angdembe is travelling to China to participate in the conference.
Angdembe said his visit would not be limited to participation in the conference. He plans to use the visit as an opportunity to explore various dimensions of Nepal–China relations and exchange experiences on bilateral political and parliamentary engagement.
During the visit, he is also expected to learn about China’s development and governance practices and hold discussions on relations and potential cooperation between the parliaments and political parties of Nepal and China.
The visit by a senior parliamentary leader of Nepal’s main opposition party is also considered significant in terms of expanding dialogue between the two countries beyond government-to-government relations to include parliamentary and political party exchanges.
