Three Nepali CEE Fellows Return Home After Three-Month U.S. Professional Exchange

Three Nepali fellows under the Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) Program have returned home after completing a three-month professional exchange in the United States.

During the program, the fellows took part in professional placements with U.S. organisations, leadership development training, academic learning and cultural exchange activities. They also expanded their professional networks with American institutions and experts and joined an international network of emerging community leaders.

The CEE Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by IREX. It is designed to strengthen the capacity of young leaders engaged in civil society and community-based initiatives by combining practical experience, leadership training, mentorship and international networking.

A central component of the program is a three-month professional placement in the United States. IREX connects participants with U.S.-based civil society organisations relevant to their fields, allowing them to gain direct experience in organisational management, community engagement and leadership practices.

CEE fellows also develop community-focused projects for implementation after returning to their home countries. The three Nepali participants are now expected to apply the knowledge, skills and professional connections gained in the United States to areas including youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and local community development.

The U.S. Embassy in Nepal has described their return as an opportunity not only to strengthen leadership capacity but also to deepen long-term people-to-people and professional ties between Nepal and the United States.

The CEE Program continues to provide emerging civil society and community leaders with international exposure while encouraging them to translate that experience into locally relevant initiatives at home.
