Discussions have been held with the Russian Embassy in Kathmandu regarding the participation of Nepali athletes and representatives in the international KARDO Award to be held in Russia, including measures to facilitate their visa process.

During a meeting with Ildar Kashimov, head of the Protocol and Bilateral Relations Section at the Russian Embassy, the two sides discussed travel arrangements, participation and visa procedures for the 10-member Nepali delegation.

KARDO is an international award and competition focused on street sports and culture. The 2026 Grand Final is scheduled to take place in Vladivostok, Russia, from September 16 to 20.

According to the organizers, leading participants from more than 60 countries are expected to take part. The event features a wide range of disciplines, including BMX, skateboarding, parkour, workout, graffiti, breaking, hip-hop, rap and DJing.

The meeting also covered coordination needed to ensure the smooth participation of the Nepali team, as well as broader opportunities to strengthen people-to-people ties between Nepal and Russia through sports and youth exchanges.

Participation by Nepali youth in international platforms such as KARDO is expected to provide greater global exposure for emerging sporting talent while also contributing to stronger cooperation between Nepal and Russia in the fields of sports, youth and culture.
