Xi Jinping Sends Condolences to President Paudel Over Deadly Floods and Landslides in Nepal

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday sent a message of condolences to Nepali President Ram Chandra Paudel over the deadly floods and landslides that recently struck Nepal.

Xi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, missing persons and damage to property caused by the disaster, particularly in areas near the Nepal-China border.

On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and expressed sympathy to the injured and other people affected by the disaster.

Xi said China has intensified search and rescue operations for missing persons, evacuation and resettlement of people at risk, and treatment of the injured. He also stressed the importance of preventing secondary disasters and minimizing further losses.

Noting that Nepal and China are neighboring countries connected by mountains and rivers and share a common future, Xi said China is ready to actively support Nepal’s rescue and relief efforts and provide assistance within its capacity.

He expressed confidence that the people of both countries would overcome the disaster and work toward recovery and reconstruction in the affected areas.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang also sent a message of condolences to Prime Minister Balen Shah.
