“Where Are Our People? Where Do We Go Now?” Flood-Affected Families Struggle With Loss and Uncertainty

Many families in Rasuwa and Nuwakot who lost their homes in the devastating floods are now living with deep anxiety and uncertainty. While some are desperately searching for missing relatives, others are struggling with the question of where they will go and how they will rebuild their lives after losing their homes.

Family members and relatives of those still missing are gathering at the Nepal Army’s No. 1 Military Training Centre in Bidur, the district headquarters of Nuwakot, to provide the names and details of their missing loved ones and seek information about people rescued from flood-affected areas.

Relatives are waiting in the hope that their family members will be among those brought back safely by rescue teams. As time passes without any information, however, distress and uncertainty among the families continue to deepen.

Personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force are continuously engaged in search and rescue operations across the affected areas. With homes, roads and other infrastructure damaged by the floods, securing immediate relief and safe temporary shelter for displaced families has become a major priority alongside ongoing rescue efforts.
