Russia Wants to End War, Not Freeze It, and Achieve Lasting Peace: Putin

Dragon Media News Desk

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Russia does not want merely to freeze the conflict in Ukraine, but to bring the war to an end and achieve lasting peace in both Ukraine and Europe.

Commenting on a proposal made in July by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to freeze the Ukrainian conflict, Putin said Russia also wants peace but does not support simply suspending the war in its current form.

“We do not want to freeze it. We want to end the war and achieve lasting, absolute peace in Ukraine and in Europe,” Putin said.

He added that Russia is ready to engage in negotiations with anyone willing to take part in a negotiation process.

Asked whether weapons production facilities for the Ukrainian military located in the United Kingdom could become targets for Russian forces, Putin declined to answer directly, describing the matter as a “military secret.”
