China Says It Has Continued Weather Forecasting and Early-Warning Support for Nepal After Kerung-Rasuwa Disaster

Chinese meteorological authorities say they have continued providing Nepal with weather monitoring, forecasting, early-warning and impact-related services since the severe disaster struck the Kerung-Rasuwa border area.

Wang Yawei, a spokesperson for the China Meteorological Administration, said at a press conference on Wednesday that Chinese authorities held video consultations with Nepal’s meteorological department immediately after the disaster.

According to Wang, China has also been actively providing meteorological information and technical support to assist Nepal’s search, rescue and relief operations.

He said China would continue making comprehensive meteorological services available and strengthen international cooperation with Nepal to support emergency response and disaster management.

The disaster in the Kerung-Rasuwa border region has highlighted the growing importance of cross-border sharing of weather, hydrological and risk-related information. China’s latest statement indicates that such cooperation will continue beyond immediate relief operations, with greater emphasis on early warning and disaster preparedness.
