Death Toll Rises to 22 in Egypt’s South Sinai Bus Crash, 28 Injured

The death toll from Wednesday’s bus crash in Egypt’s South Sinai Province has risen to 22, while 28 others were injured.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, the injured were taken to three nearby hospitals for treatment. The accident occurred on the road between the popular tourist towns of Dahab and Nuweiba on the eastern coast of South Sinai.

Twenty ambulances were dispatched to the scene to support rescue and emergency medical operations.

Local media, citing initial investigations, reported that the bus was traveling at high speed and overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar ordered health authorities to maintain a heightened state of preparedness and instructed them to provide all necessary emergency and medical services to the injured.

The ministry said medical teams were operating at full capacity and that the condition of the injured and the overall response were being closely monitored.
