Xi Jinping Concludes State Visit to Egypt, Departs Cairo

Chinese President Xi Jinping departed Cairo on Wednesday after concluding his state visit to Egypt.

During the visit, Xi held talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The two leaders jointly witnessed the signing of multiple cooperation documents covering Belt and Road cooperation, artificial intelligence, economic and trade ties, and industrial and supply chain cooperation.

China and Egypt also issued a joint statement on further deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership, underscoring their commitment to expanding cooperation in infrastructure, technology, trade, industry and supply chains.

Before his departure, Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan toured the Grand Egyptian Museum accompanied by President Sisi and his wife Entissar El-Sisi.

The visit, taking place as China and Egypt mark 70 years of diplomatic relations, was seen as an important opportunity to further strengthen political trust, economic partnership and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
