A highland celtuce cultivation base near the headwaters of the Minjiang River in Songpan County, China, has recorded a strong harvest this year. With the arrival of autumn, harvesting activities are in full swing at the production base in Chuanzhusi Township.

Workers are busy sorting, bundling and loading freshly harvested celtuce onto vehicles for shipment to markets in other areas.
The area’s favorable ecological environment and high-altitude climate are said to contribute to the good quality of the crop, helping maintain stable market demand.
The cultivation base is also creating employment opportunities for local residents, allowing them to find work close to home while generating additional income from agricultural production.
The development of highland agriculture in Songpan illustrates how local environmental advantages can be used to promote specialty farming, strengthen rural economic activity and support local livelihoods.
