China Urges US to Lift Iran-Related Sanctions on Chinese Companies and Citizens

Dragon Media News Desk

China has urged the United States to immediately correct what Beijing described as wrongful practices and lift Iran-related sanctions imposed on Chinese companies and citizens.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Thursday, Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Huang Ling said China has consistently opposed unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law or authorization from the United Nations Security Council.

Huang said that despite repeated representations from Beijing, the United States has on multiple occasions imposed sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals over alleged links with Iran. She said China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to such measures.

According to the spokesperson, unilateral US sanctions improperly interfere with normal economic and trade exchanges between relevant countries and seriously disrupt global energy security and stable supply.

China called on Washington to immediately reverse the measures and remove the sanctions imposed on Chinese entities and citizens.

Huang added that the Chinese government will firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its companies and citizens.
