Russian Embassy Rejects UK Allegations Over Leipzig Airport Drone Incident as Baseless

Russia has rejected allegations that it was involved in a drone incident at Leipzig Airport in Germany, describing the accusations presented by the British side as baseless and absurd.

According to the Russian Embassy, Chargé d’Affaires Vasily Tsyganov was summoned to the UK Foreign Office on September 3, where he received a formal protest alleging Russian involvement in the incident.

The Russian side categorically rejected the accusation, saying no convincing evidence had been presented to support what it described as an anti-Russian interpretation of the events. The embassy said the allegations were framed in what it called a familiar British style.

According to the Russian side, such coordinated provocations aimed at increasing tensions in Europe serve only the interests of Kyiv and its supporters, whom Moscow accuses of seeking to prolong the conflict. The embassy described such actions as reckless and dangerous.

Russia also stressed that it does not seek confrontation with the United Kingdom or other European countries.

However, the Russian side warned that any escalatory steps taken against it would receive an appropriate and carefully calibrated response.
