Russia, India Top Judicial Chiefs Hold Talks in New Delhi

Heads of the highest judicial bodies of Russia and India, Igor Krasnov and Surya Kant, held a meeting in New Delhi on September 4.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Chief Justices’ Forum, where the two sides discussed coordination of efforts on the international stage and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening previously reached agreements.

Krasnov said that the deepening of Russia-India cooperation, based on the principles of a special and privileged strategic partnership, is supported by the warm personal and friendly relations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the talks, both sides positively assessed the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier between the two countries’ judicial institutions.

The Russian side has already prepared and submitted to its Indian partners a draft cooperation programme for the next two years for consideration.

The proposed programme includes a range of mutually beneficial initiatives aimed at further strengthening judicial and legal cooperation between Russia and India.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to making bilateral cooperation in the judicial and legal fields more institutionalized and effective.
