Putin Holds Over Three Hours of Talks with U.S. Envoys in Moscow, Kremlin Calls Meeting ‘Constructive and Extremely Frank’

Russian President Vladimir Putin held more than three hours of talks in Moscow with U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, with the Kremlin describing the meeting as substantive, constructive and extremely frank.
According to Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov, the discussions covered serious issues in both a formal working setting and an informal conversation over dinner. The talks lasted three hours and 10 minutes.
Ushakov said Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to continue working jointly with the United States in search of political and diplomatic solutions to the Ukraine crisis.
During the meeting, the Russian side presented its detailed assessment of the current situation in the conflict. Ushakov said Moscow highlighted what it described as advances by Russian forces in the combat zone and expressed confidence in achieving its stated objectives.
The Russian side also reiterated its position that any durable settlement must address what Moscow calls the root causes of the conflict.
The talks were not limited to Ukraine. According to the Kremlin, the two sides also discussed potential large-scale, mutually beneficial economic projects and broader prospects for Russian-U.S. economic cooperation.
Ushakov described the negotiations as timely and highly useful for both sides. He said it was confirmed that the presidents of the two countries would continue maintaining personal contact and that further work through Witkoff and Kushner would also continue.
The U.S. envoys said they would convey to the Ukrainian side during their upcoming meetings in Kyiv the observations and assessments they had received directly from Putin regarding a possible durable peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The latest Moscow talks indicate that direct diplomatic engagement between Russia and the United States over efforts to end the Ukraine war is set to continue.
