Five Killed as Amazon Air Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

Five people were killed and five others injured after an Amazon Air cargo aircraft veered off the runway and crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday.

The Boeing 767-300 cargo plane left the runway shortly after landing at around 2 pm local time. The aircraft was reportedly travelling at approximately 209 kilometres per hour when it departed the runway.

The plane struck several vehicles before catching fire following the crash.

Around 200 firefighters and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after authorities received initial reports of the accident.

Officials said three of the injured were taken to a local trauma centre, while two others are receiving treatment at hospital.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known. Relevant US aviation authorities are expected to investigate the accident.
