Putin Congratulates Lula on Brazil’s Independence Day, Reaffirms Strategic Partnership

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent greetings to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the occasion of Brazil’s Independence Day.

In his September 7 message, Putin said relations between Russia and Brazil are successfully developing in the spirit of strategic partnership.

He noted that the two countries actively cooperate across a wide range of areas and coordinate their efforts within the United Nations, BRICS, the G20 and other multilateral forums.

Putin expressed confidence that Russia and Brazil would continue constructive joint efforts to further strengthen the full range of mutually beneficial bilateral ties.

According to the Russian president, such cooperation fully serves the interests of the friendly peoples of both countries and is consistent with the goal of building a new, more just and multipolar world order.

Russia and Brazil have continued to expand cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, science, technology and multilateral diplomacy. Within BRICS and other major international platforms, the two countries have also worked together in support of multilateralism and a world order based on the sovereign equality of states.
