Home Minister Gurung and RSP Parliament Member Dhital Clash in WhatsApp Group, Dispute Reportedly Resolved Later

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and Rastriya Swatantra Party parliament member and parliamentary party whip Krantishikha Dhital reportedly engaged in a heated exchange in a WhatsApp group following disagreements over a Gen Z martyrs’ memorial programme held in New Baneshwar.
The dispute began after Dhital publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the presence of controversial religious figures as guests at the programme held on the premises of the old parliament building.
In a Facebook post, Dhital questioned the nature of the programme, its stage arrangements and the selection of guests. She said the event had left her wondering whether the sentiments of Gen Z martyrs, injured protesters and bereaved families had been properly respected.
“I was stunned after seeing the programme organized in memory of the Gen Z martyrs in front of the BICC,” she wrote. “I do not know why the stage was arranged that way or what the presence of those religious figures was supposed to signify.”
She also questioned how the programme addressed the pain of families who had lost their children and those still living with injuries sustained during the movement.
Following the post, Gurung reportedly responded sharply to Dhital in a WhatsApp group. Jana Aastha, citing a parliament member who was part of the group, reported that Gurung accused Dhital of publicly criticizing colleagues without properly understanding the spirit of the movement.
According to the report, Gurung addressed Dhital directly in a confrontational tone and told her that she did not need to lecture others about the party or the movement.
Dhital reportedly responded by arguing that placing controversial individuals alongside Gen Z representatives would not fulfil the movement’s demands. She also rejected any suggestion that the Gen Z movement belonged to one individual.
As the exchange intensified, other parliament members in the group reportedly intervened and urged both sides not to escalate the disagreement.
The report said Dhital later criticized Gurung’s manner of speaking, prompting another sharp response from the Home Minister.
However, efforts were subsequently made to resolve the matter through direct communication. A parliament member cited in the report said she had spoken with Dhital and was informed that the dispute had been settled following a telephone conversation the next morning.
The reported WhatsApp exchanges have not been independently made public or verified. The controversy nevertheless reflects internal disagreements within the ruling side over the organization of the Gen Z martyrs’ memorial programme, particularly the selection of guests and the manner in which the event represented the movement’s legacy.
