Bharat Dahal Alleges Documents Were Burned Inside Supreme Court

Bharat Dahal, chairman of Trimul Party Nepal and a political analyst, has alleged that documents stored inside Nepal’s Supreme Court were recently destroyed in a fire.

Dahal claimed that papers kept in two cabinets were burned in an incident that occurred inside the court premises several days ago. He further alleged that the matter had not been publicly disclosed and raised suspicion that evidence connected to serious wrongdoing could have been deliberately destroyed.

According to Dahal, when responsible court officials were questioned about the incident, they reportedly responded that only “ordinary documents” had been damaged. He questioned how documents systematically preserved inside the Supreme Court could be regarded as insignificant.

Dahal also alleged that documents which had not been destroyed during incidents in Bhadra last year might now be being targeted, suggesting that an effort to destroy evidence could still be continuing.
