Chinese Ambassador Zhang Maoming Visits Disaster-Hit Nuwakot, Reaffirms Support for Reconstruction

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming visited disaster-affected areas of Nuwakot on Thursday, where he met representatives of the Nepali Army, local authorities, volunteers and affected communities and received updates on ongoing search, rescue and relief operations.
Ambassador Zhang also visited temporary resettlement centres established for displaced residents. He observed conditions at the facilities and learned about basic services and relief arrangements being provided to families affected by the disaster.
During the visit, Zhang met Chinese tunnel rescue experts working in the disaster zone and expressed his appreciation for their efforts under difficult conditions. The Chinese specialists have been supporting technical rescue operations in coordination with Nepali authorities and security agencies.
The ambassador highly commended the search and rescue operations and broader disaster relief efforts being carried out by the Nepali Army, local authorities, volunteers and other sectors. He highlighted the importance of coordination and humanitarian commitment in responding to the disaster.
Zhang emphasized that China stands firmly with Nepal during this difficult period and reaffirmed Beijing’s willingness to work together with Nepal in post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.
His visit conveyed a broader message that China’s engagement would extend beyond immediate rescue and relief efforts to support rehabilitation and rebuilding in affected communities.
During the field visit, Ambassador Zhang toured relief facilities, temporary shelters and locations associated with rescue operations, underscoring continued Nepal-China cooperation in disaster response, recovery and reconstruction.
