House of Representatives to Discuss Citizen Investment Trust Amendment Bill; Four Parliamentary Committees Meet Today

The House of Representatives is scheduled to convene at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle will present a motion seeking consideration of the Citizen Investment Trust (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083. Four parliamentary committees are also scheduled to hold meetings during the day.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the Finance Committee; the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee; the Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee; and the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee will discuss matters relating to economic legislation, forensic science, the investment environment and library policy.

The Finance Committee will meet at 10 a.m. to hold a general discussion on the bill seeking to amend and repeal certain Nepalese laws relating to economic affairs. The committee will also consult parliament members who have registered amendment proposals to the bill.

The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will convene at 10 a.m. to discuss the draft report on the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081.

The Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee will meet at 11:15 a.m. to examine the state of domestic and foreign investment, as well as private and public investment in Nepal. Discussions will also cover the impact of climate change on the investment environment, the management of national and provincial investment conferences, and policy and legal reforms needed to create more favourable investment conditions.

The Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee is scheduled to meet at 11:30 a.m. to consult experts on the draft Library Policy.
