Second Harvest Begins on 110 Mu of Green Bean Farmland in China’s Songpan County

Farmers in Nianyu Township, Songpan County, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, have begun the second round of harvesting green beans cultivated across 110 mu of farmland. Taking advantage of the plateau’s cool climate, local authorities have promoted the cultivation of specialty vegetables to diversify agricultural production, increase farmers’ incomes and strengthen the rural economy.

Fields across Nianyu Township are covered with flourishing green bean plants, while villagers are busy harvesting, sorting and loading the produce for transportation. Unlike conventional cultivation practices, the township has developed green beans as a specialty vegetable crop that can be harvested repeatedly in successive batches after a single planting.
