Putin Congratulates Turkmenistan on Independence Day, Pledges to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message congratulating Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his country’s Independence Day. In the message sent on September 27, Putin pledged to continue strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Putin said Turkmenistan was making progress in social and economic development under Berdimuhamedov’s leadership. He also credited the country’s policy of positive neutrality with helping to strengthen security and stability in Central Asia and the Caspian region.

Russia and Turkmenistan cooperate across a range of fields and coordinate on major international issues, Putin said. He expressed his intention to maintain constructive dialogue and joint efforts to develop bilateral relations in the interests of both countries.
