Goji Berry Harvest Begins in Qinghai’s Qaidam Basin

The goji berry harvest is underway in the Qaidam Basin of northwest China’s Qinghai Province. Fields near the Kunlun Mountains are yielding ripe berries, with photographs showing fruit on the branches and freshly harvested berries ready for sale.

Golmud, in the Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, is also home to a goji berry seedling base. According to the information provided, the base can supply three million high-quality cuttings and 1.5 million bare-root seedlings each year.

Seedling production forms part of the growing supply chain linking cultivation and harvest to the market. Figures for this season’s harvest and sales were not provided.
