Six people were killed and four injured in a road accident in Huaihua, central China’s Hunan Province, early Thursday. Local expressway police said the crash occurred at approximately 2:07 a.m. on the Huaihua section of the Shanghai–Kunming Expressway.
According to a preliminary investigation, a heavy semi-trailer truck travelling from east to west sideswiped one car before colliding with another ahead. The truck then lost control and pushed a third car forward, causing a fire. Four vehicles sustained varying degrees of damage.
The truck driver, a 57-year-old man surnamed Ren, was taken into custody on suspicion of fatigued driving. Treatment of the injured and further investigation are underway, Xinhua reported.
