Russian President Vladimir Putin has received congratulatory messages and telegrams on his 74th birthday from foreign heads of state and government, leaders of international organisations, and public and political figures.
Putin also received birthday wishes by telephone from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
On the occasion, Prem Sagar Poudel, founding president of the Nepal–China Mutual Cooperation Society and a journalist, also sent Putin a birthday message. Poudel noted Putin’s contribution to the transformation of modern Russia, the defence of its national sovereignty and the strengthening of its role in world affairs.
Poudel said Putin’s leadership had played a decisive role in strengthening Russia’s state institutions, maintaining political stability and placing national interests at the centre of its foreign policy following the difficult transition of the 1990s. He said Putin’s consistent advocacy of sovereign equality, mutual respect and the right of nations to make their own decisions had contributed to the debate on a multipolar world order. In Poudel’s view, this vision also highlights the importance of protecting national interests and pursuing independent policy choices for smaller and developing countries such as Nepal.
“On this special occasion, I wish Your Excellency good health, longevity and continued success in your service to Russia and its people. I also extend my sincere best wishes for the continued strengthening and expansion of the historic friendship and mutual cooperation between Russia and Nepal,” Poudel’s message said.
