NANJING — Prem Sagar Poudel, founder and president of the Nepal–China Mutual Cooperation Society, has called on Chinese businesses and investors to explore investment and partnership opportunities in Nepal.

Speaking at a farewell dinner in Nanjing on Sunday evening, Poudel cited tourism, agriculture, medicinal herbs, energy, trade infrastructure, and import-export as areas with potential for expanded cooperation between Nepal and China. He urged Chinese institutions and businesses to learn more about Nepal’s economic opportunities and consider partnerships.

A Chinese company, citing its appreciation for the warm and friendly exchanges with its Nepali guests, has decided to allocate 1 million Chinese yuan from its own funds to launch the “Nepali Youth Chinese Dream” programme on January 1, 2027.

Under the programme, 20 young professionals from Nepal’s government, political parties, businesses, universities, media and social organisations will be selected each year to visit Nanjing. Applicants must be under 40, or under 45 if they hold a doctoral degree. The company said it would cover travel costs from Kathmandu to Nanjing and arrange a five-day programme featuring cultural activities and economic and business visits.

The programme will also connect participants with Chinese entrepreneurs and investors whose net assets exceed 50 million yuan. It will facilitate discussions on participants’ business ideas and areas of mutually beneficial Nepal–China trade cooperation, the company said. The initiative is intended to help develop a new generation of entrepreneurial and economically successful young people in Nepal.

The company has also invited entrepreneurs and forward-looking individuals from across society to take part. Their involvement, it said, could support the exchange of business information and goods, as well as strategic cooperation between Nepal and China.
