India’s Retail Inflation Rises to 5.54% as Food Prices Climb

Dragon Media News Desk
India’s retail inflation rose to 5.54% in September, up from 3.65% in August, provisional government data showed. Higher food prices were the main driver of the increase.
The rate is close to the upper end of the Reserve Bank of India’s 2% to 6% tolerance band. The rise could put additional pressure on household food budgets, while economists and markets are watching how price trends may affect future interest-rate decisions.
