Police Stop Opposition March to India’s Supreme Court Over Voter Rolls

Dragon Media News Desk
Police stopped opposition leaders in New Delhi on Monday as they marched toward the Supreme Court to protest changes to voter rolls. Opposition parties allege that a large number of names have been removed from electoral lists and have questioned the fairness of the process. The Election Commission has denied the allegations.
India’s chief justice declined to meet the opposition leaders, saying related matters were already before the court. The dispute has intensified a national debate over voters’ rights and the role of the Election Commission.
