An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance with higher standards and concrete measures will be published on Friday, Xinhua reported.
The article will appear in the 20th issue this year of Qiushi, the CPC Central Committee’s flagship magazine. Xi is also China’s president and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
It calls for upholding and strengthening the Party’s overall leadership and consistently advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance to implement the blueprint set out at the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
The article says major policy decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee must be carried out with greater resolve and vigour. It also calls for more concrete, targeted and regular oversight of strategic initiatives, including applying the new development philosophy, promoting high-quality development and accelerating the creation of a new development paradigm.
Efforts to place the exercise of power within institutional constraints should be more scientific and effective, the article says. Everyone must be treated equally under the law and regulations, with no exemptions or special privileges in observing or enforcing them.
The article calls for pursuing the anti-corruption campaign with greater vigilance and resolve, describing it as a decisive struggle that must not be lost. It says sustained, high-pressure measures are needed to detect corruption in all its forms promptly, identify it accurately and address it effectively, while improving mechanisms to coordinate oversight and enforcement across sectors.
