A vehicle carrying Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was fired at on Sunday evening in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The actor was not injured, while two people, including his driver, were hurt, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said. The incident took place near Pushpa Park, within the jurisdiction of Juhu Police Station. The driver suffered an injury to his hand and was reported to be out of danger, PTI quoted a police official as saying.
Fifteen teams, including personnel from the Mumbai Crime Branch and local police, have been assigned to investigate the incident, a police official said. A forensic team visited the scene to collect evidence. Police are examining CCTV footage to establish the sequence of events, determine the number of rounds fired and identify those involved. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke with the police commissioner and directed the police to expedite the investigation and arrest those responsible.
After the incident, a social media post circulated in which people identifying themselves as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility for the shooting. News reports said the post threatened film-industry figures who work with Salman Khan and demanded that Khan apologise to Lawrence Bishnoi and the Bishnoi community. However, police have not confirmed the post’s authenticity or any gang’s involvement in the shooting. PTI reported that police were verifying the claim. It should therefore not be presented as confirmed responsibility for the attack.
The Ratopati report linked the incident to a shooting outside a gym associated with singer Guru Randhawa. That incident took place on June 11 at 24 HS Fitness in West Delhi—about four months before the October 18 shooting, not three. Delhi Police had not confirmed a direct connection between the gym and Randhawa at the time and said the matter was under investigation.
