Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has sent greetings to the organisers and participants of the Sixth ASEAN–Russia Youth Summit, which is being held in Vladivostok after a lengthy hiatus.

In a message issued on October 22, Lavrov said Russia–ASEAN relations had reached the level of a strategic partnership. The two sides are marking the 35th anniversary of their relations in 2026. He said their broad and robust ties contribute to socioeconomic development and regional stability.

Lavrov said the shared commitment to expanding cooperation was demonstrated at the ASEAN–Russia Summit held in Kazan in June. Leaders at that meeting gave particular attention to creating favourable conditions for greater contact among young people.

He said young people’s energy, openness to innovation and commitment to progress were essential to advancing development and strengthening friendship and trust between the peoples of Russia and ASEAN member states.

The summit programme includes thematic discussions, round-table meetings and cultural events. Lavrov wished participants productive discussions and a successful stay in Russia’s Primorye region.
