Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message on Friday to the 2026 Global Governance Forum, which opened in Xiongan, calling for cooperation to build a fairer and more equitable system of global governance.
The world is undergoing a pace of change unseen in a century, Xi said, adding that deficits in peace, development, security and governance were growing rather than diminishing. He said dialogue, cooperation and joint efforts were needed to address global challenges.
Xi said he had proposed the Global Governance Initiative to promote a fairer and more equitable system of global governance and help build a better world. He called on all parties to uphold a vision of global governance based on extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.
Xi urged efforts to build confidence, pool strength and tackle challenges through cooperation. Implementing the initiative, he said, could bring greater certainty and positive energy to a world marked by turbulence and transformation. He also called for joint efforts to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
The forum, hosted by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, is themed “Rebuilding Confidence and Cooperation: Reforming and Improving Global Governance in a Transforming World.”
