Russian diplomat hopes possible Putin–Trump–Xi meeting could open path to stability

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has expressed hope that a possible meeting among Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping could help ease international tensions.
Speaking on television on October 25, Zakharova said international relations were going through a difficult period and instability was spreading around the world. She said the leaders of the three major powers could exchange views at a multilateral gathering, adding that millions—or even billions—of people would be watching. Many, she said, hoped such talks could help steer the world away from growing chaos and toward stability.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said the possibility of a trilateral meeting had been discussed. Russia has raised the prospect of holding it on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China, scheduled for November 18–19. Trump has said he is open to participating, but no meeting has been confirmed.
China’s Foreign Ministry previously said it had no information about the proposed meeting. No formal agreement on the meeting or its agenda has been announced.
