Colombian winger Marino Hinestroza scored twice in the final three minutes of normal time as Vasco da Gama came from behind to beat Corinthians 3-2 in Brazil’s Serie A on Saturday.
Jose Luis Rodriguez opened the scoring for Vasco at Sao Januario Stadium. Gustavo Henrique equalised with a header shortly after halftime, before Matheus Bidu put Corinthians ahead with a composed finish after combining with Fabrizio Angileri.
Hinestroza, who came on in the first half for the injured Andres Gomez, scored twice late in the match to secure Vasco’s 10th win of the season.
The Rio de Janeiro club moved to 13th in the 20-team standings with 38 points, five ahead of 17th-placed Corinthians.
The match was Clarence Seedorf’s first in the Corinthians dugout. The Dutchman was appointed earlier this month to replace Fernando Diniz. Seedorf said the players were frustrated by the result and needed to make better use of their attacking chances and improve defensively.
In other matches on Saturday, Internacional beat Botafogo 3-0, Mirassol drew 1-1 with Sao Paulo, and Athletico Paranaense and Vitoria also drew 1-1. Palmeiras defeated Bragantino 2-0, Chapecoense beat Fluminense 2-1, and Bahia drew 1-1 with Santos.
