Road Reaches China’s ‘Cliff Village’: Three-Hour Mountain Trek Reduced to Minutes

Sichuan, China — A road connecting the remote Abuluoha Village (Cliff Village) in the mountainous region of southwest China’s Sichuan Province has brought significant changes to the lives of its residents.
The village is located at an altitude of approximately 1,400 meters, perched on a cliff top. Before the road was built, villagers had to climb a steep mountain path for at least three hours to reach their homes. This journey was extremely dangerous for children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

In June 2020, a 3.8-kilometer-long concrete road was completed. Now connected to the road network, residents can enter the village in just a few minutes.
The Changes:
· Education: Children can now walk safely to school. Previously, reaching school was nearly impossible for many.
· Economy: Local agricultural produce, fruits, and handicrafts now reach markets quickly and at lower cost. Farmers’ incomes have increased.
· Healthcare: Patients can easily reach hospitals in emergencies. Timely treatment is now possible even in critical conditions.
· Connectivity: Villagers can now easily connect with the outside world. Internet and mobile services have also improved.

According to CGTN, this road is a quiet yet powerful example of how infrastructure can transform isolation into opportunity. It is part of China’s broader campaign to connect millions of villages in remote areas to the road network.
The report concludes that genuine development is one that reaches even the hardest-to-reach places, ensuring that progress leaves no one behind.
