Prisoner Swap: 193 Russian Servicemen Returned from Ukraine, Exchange Carried Out with Mediation by UAE and United States

Moscow — Under a prisoner-of-war exchange between Russia and Ukraine, 193 Russian servicemen have been returned from territory controlled by the Ukrainian side. Russia has handed back the same number of Ukrainian POWs.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the Russian servicemen are currently on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, where they are being provided with the necessary psychological and medical assistance. The ministry informed that all the released servicemen will be taken to the Russian Federation for treatment and rehabilitation in medical institutions of the Russian Defence Ministry.

During the return of the Russian servicemen from captivity, humanitarian mediation efforts were carried out by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States of America, the ministry stated. The diplomatic initiative of both countries reportedly facilitated the safe exchange of the prisoners of war.
