Russian Parliament Speaker Volodin Visits North Korea to Attend War Memorial Opening

Pyongyang — Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has arrived in Pyongyang for a working visit to North Korea. He was welcomed at the airport by Choe Ryong-hae, Chairman of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly.

On instructions from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Volodin will attend the opening ceremony of the Memorial Complex and Museum of Combat Feats of the Heroes of the Overseas Military Operation on Saturday. The memorial is dedicated to the courage of Korean soldiers who took part in the liberation of the Kursk region from neo-Nazis, the Russian side stated.

Volodin’s visit is seen as a new sign of growing bilateral relations between Russia and North Korea.
