North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un Inspects Military Unit and Observes Mortar Contest

Pyongyang — Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), visited a combined unit under the mechanized infantry division of the Korean People’s Army in the western area on Saturday, on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Sunday.

On the same day, Kim also oversaw a firing contest of mortarmen from light infantry units under large combined units, KCNA said in another report. The DPRK leader extended his warm encouragement to the country’s armed forces and instructed the military to stage training contests “in a more intensive and competitive way,” the KCNA report stated.
