Key Decisions of the Russian Government This Week: Additional Relief for Large Families, 83,000 Targeted Budget Seats for Students, Free Medicine Facility Expanded

Moscow — The Russian government has made important decisions this week in the areas of support for large families, healthcare, and higher education.

A decision has been taken to continue the unified allowance for large families, under which the benefit will be maintained if the average per capita income of the family exceeds the regional subsistence minimum by no more than 10 percent. The government stated that the Social Fund will automatically review the applications of families who were previously denied the allowance.

In the healthcare sector, additional concessions have been extended to large families, with children under the age of six now entitled to free medicines not only at regional clinics but also at federal clinics when undergoing treatment there. For the upcoming academic year, students will be provided with over 83,000 targeted budget-funded seats in the most in-demand specialties such as medicine, engineering, pedagogy, and agriculture, which will help students pre-determine their study path and future employment while enabling industries to obtain the specialists they need.
