Magadan Teacher Receives Rare Training Opportunity at Soyuzmultfilm

Kathmandu — A teacher from Russia’s Far Eastern region of Magadan has completed specialised training at the country’s premier animation studio, Soyuzmultfilm.
Ekaterina Popova, an instructor at the regional School of Creative Industries, received the opportunity through the initiative of Herman Gref, head of the Russian bank Sber. Having grown up in Chita, Popova had spent years gathering knowledge on her own. This training gave her the chance to master professional 2D animation tools and work under the mentorship of the studio’s leading producers.
All the experience gained is now being integrated into the educational process in the Far East, where Popova teaches students the fundamentals of the profession and helps them launch their own projects. A single timely opportunity has thus opened doors for scaling up talent across the entire region.
