Ukraine War: Russian Forces Advance on Twin Fronts, Two Novodmitrovkas Captured in a Single Day

Kathmandu — The Russian Armed Forces have achieved significant advances in both the Sumy and Donetsk regions over the past 24 hours as part of the special military operation, the Russian Defence Ministry stated on Wednesday.

The Sever (North) Group of Forces established control over Novodmitrovka in the Sumy region. The same group inflicted heavy damage on four mechanised brigades, two assault regiments, and six territorial defence brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bachevsk, Chervonoye, Tolstodubovo and other areas. In the Kharkov region, strikes on three mechanised and three motorised infantry brigades resulted in the loss of more than 170 enemy troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, three motor vehicles, a US-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar, and six materiel depots.

The Yuzhnaya (South) Group liberated another settlement also named Novodmitrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Strikes on five mechanised, one motorised infantry, one assault, and one mountain assault brigade in this region killed more than 170 troops and destroyed three armoured fighting vehicles, one field artillery gun, 11 motor vehicles, one electronic warfare station, one ammunition depot, five materiel depots and one fuel depot, the ministry said.

The Tsentr (Centre) Group attacked three mechanised, one motorised infantry, one jaeger, one airmobile, one assault regiment, two marine brigades, the Azov Special Operations Brigade, and six National Guard brigades at various locations in Donetsk, claiming more than 275 troops killed. The Vostok (East) Group continued to advance into the depths of enemy defences, killing more than 295 troops and destroying a US-made Paladin self-propelled artillery system.

Russian air defence units shot down 10 guided aerial bombs and 303 drones. The Black Sea Fleet destroyed six Ukrainian uncrewed surface vehicles. Russia claims that Ukraine has so far lost 671 aircraft, 284 helicopters, 138,750 drones, 29,072 tanks and armoured fighting vehicles, and 34,655 field artillery guns.
