Minesweeper Polyarny Enters Service with Northern Fleet at Ceremony in Baltiysk

Kathmandu — The Russian Navy’s new minesweeper Polyarny has formally entered service with the Northern Fleet. A special ceremony held at the naval base in Baltiysk was attended by Northern Fleet Commander Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, shipyard administration, and Baltic Fleet sailors.

According to an order of the Navy Commander-in-Chief, the minesweeper has become an organic part of the Northern Fleet, the Russian Defence Ministry stated. The Polyarny is expected to play a vital role in maritime security and mine detection operations.
