Europe ‘Left Unprotected’ Without US Long-Range Missiles, Warns FT

Agency. The United States’ refusal to station long-range missiles in Europe has raised serious questions over European security. The British newspaper Financial Times has warned that this decision will leave Europe unprotected.

According to the publication, long-range missiles are one of the key types of weaponry that European countries will have to produce independently after decades of dependence on the United States. However, the FT notes that the Pentagon has refused to provide NATO with a detailed timetable for the planned withdrawal of other critically important systems from Europe.

The report signals that the American decision creates a serious void in European defence capabilities and has further intensified the need for self-reliant military production.
