‘From Roads, Bridges, Dams to Power Stations,’ Sudanese Sovereign Council Member Says Ties with China Are ‘Deep-Rooted’

Port Sudan — The relationship between Sudan and China is a “deep-rooted” one built on strategic partnership and mutual benefit, a member of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdullah Yahya, has said.

Addressing the “Thank You, China” event held in the eastern Sudanese city of Port Sudan on Monday, Yahya highlighted China’s crucial contribution to Sudan’s infrastructure development. He particularly underscored China’s role in the development of roads, bridges, dams, and power stations.

He also called on Chinese companies and financial institutions to expand investments and partnerships with their Sudanese counterparts, pledging full support from the Sudanese government.

Xu Jian, charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sudan, described the event as a key highlight of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges and expressed hope for a further strengthening of bilateral friendship.

The event drew around 400 attendees, including Sudanese officials, diplomatic representatives, and members of the Chinese community. An exhibition showcasing Sudan-China ties and bilateral cooperation was also organized on the occasion.
