Idrissi’s Goal Secures Narrow Win for Pachuca in First Leg of Semifinal

Mexico City – Moroccan winger Oussama Idrissi scored in the first half as Pachuca clinched a 1-0 home win over Pumas UNAM in the first leg of their Liga MX Clausura semifinal on Thursday.

Idrissi broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when he found space outside the box and fired a long-range effort into the bottom right corner. The goal proved to be the decisive moment of the match.

However, Pachuca finished the match with 10 men after Eduardo Bauermann was shown a straight red card three minutes from time for a bad foul on Juninho. Despite controlling almost half of the possession, Pumas could manage only one shot on target for the night.

The return leg will be played in Mexico City on Sunday. The winner on aggregate will meet the victor of the other semifinal between Guadalajara and Cruz Azul in the final.
