Moscow. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks in Moscow with Simeón Oyono Esono Angüe, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Diaspora of Equatorial Guinea.

Angüe was in Russia on a working visit. During the meeting on May 18, the two ministers discussed the current state of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Equatorial Guinea, as well as prospects for their further development.

Moscow and Malabo reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying political dialogue and high level contacts. Both sides also agreed to continue effective coordination at the United Nations and in other multilateral platforms.

The ministers noted significant potential for cooperation in trade, the economy, investment, humanitarian engagement and other areas. They also emphasized the need to give fresh momentum to joint efforts aimed at improving the legal framework of bilateral relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on current international and African issues, including the formation of a multipolar world order, reform of the United Nations Security Council, the situation in the Middle East, the fight against terrorism and extremism, and the resolution of crises and conflicts.

Preparations for the Third Russia Africa Summit, scheduled to be held this autumn, were also discussed during the meeting.

The latest diplomatic engagement between Russia and Equatorial Guinea is being seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen Russia Africa relations and expand cooperation in diplomacy, trade, investment and multilateral affairs.
