“China and the United States Agree to Work Together to Make Military Relations Stable and Positive”

Beijing — China and the United States have agreed to advance bilateral military relations in a stable and positive direction, in line with the interests of both sides and the common expectations of the international community.
During U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping held successful talks with him, during which the two leaders reached an important consensus on building a constructive China U.S. relationship with strategic stability, according to the Chinese side. The consensus is said to have set the direction and foundation for the future development of China U.S. relations.
Chinese military spokesperson Jiang Bin said the stable development of China U.S. military relations serves the common interests of both sides and also reflects the shared expectations of the international community. He stated that China is ready to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, strengthen communication and dialogue, manage differences, build trust, and eliminate doubts and suspicions.
Spokesperson Jiang also said that during the talks between the two leaders, President Xi emphasized the need to make better use of available channels of communication in the political, diplomatic, and military fields.
The agreement is expected to play a positive role in guiding China U.S. military relations onto the right track for stable, positive, and long term development, building a brighter future for bilateral relations, and safeguarding world peace and stability.
