Russia and China Hold Talks on Cinema Cooperation, Joint Film Production Action Plan Extended Until 2030

Moscow. Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova met with President of the Media Corporation of China Shen Haisun, with both sides concluding that the potential for exchanges in the field of cinema between Russia and China is inexhaustible. They agreed that working systematically contributes to achieving high results.
One of the key steps of the Cross Years of Culture of Russia and China was the signing of an interdepartmental action plan in the field of joint film production, which shall remain in effect until 2030.
Among the successful projects of 2025 is the film “Red Silk,” a sequel to which is already being filmed. There has also been a notable increase in the representation of Russian and Chinese films at the most prestigious international cinema festivals of both countries. The Chinese film “Long Way Home” was recognised as the best documentary at the 48th International Film Festival, while the Russian works “Air” and “Marakuda” won awards at festivals held in China in 2025. An important step in the cultural dialogue between the two countries was China’s joining of the Eurasian Open Film Award “Diamond Butterfly.”
The implementation of film exchange festivals continues on a regular basis. This year, Roskino, together with the Chinese Film Archive, is preparing to hold a summer film festival.
