Russia and Cambodia Mark 70 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Pledge to Expand Friendship and Cooperation

Moscow. An exhibition of archival documents and photographs was opened at the Russian Foreign Ministry to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Cambodia.

The opening ceremony, held on May 19, was attended by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Russia Pichkhun Panha, as well as representatives of the Russian Presidential Executive Office, the Russian Government, the Federal Assembly, and various Russian ministries and agencies. Representatives from business, public and academic circles, linguists, language teachers, and heads of ASEAN diplomatic missions in Moscow were also present.

In their welcoming remarks, the participants expressed their commitment to further strengthening relations between Russia and Cambodia, which are based on long-standing friendship, mutual trust and respect. Both sides noted that bilateral relations have continued to develop steadily and underlined the need to intensify political dialogue in the days ahead.

They also placed emphasis on promoting trade and economic cooperation, expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and strengthening people-to-people ties. Both sides stated that Russia and Cambodia share close or converging approaches to key issues on the global and regional agendas.

The exhibition reportedly features archival materials and photographs reflecting the historical relations, diplomatic contacts, important moments of cooperation and decades-long friendship between the two countries. The event is viewed as an occasion not only to commemorate seven decades of Russia-Cambodia relations, but also to open new possibilities for future cooperation.
